How do I find a book on the shelf?

The library arranges our materials on the shelf according to the Library of Congress Classification System.
Call numbers you see on the spine of the book are made up of a combination of letters and numbers. They determine a unique location of the book on the shelf.
Let's try to locate the book we found in our catalog with a call number HV 8073 .A85 2007.
- Click on a Locate widget.
- This will open up a Physical Location Map
Follow the map to find location of a stack (bookshelf) where the item is located.
Stacks (E-MT)
- Once in the E-MT stack area on the second floor, find a bookshelf with an end cap (H)
- Find HV bookshelf. There might be multiple.
- Look for HV 8073 - tip: left side of the bookshelf
- Follow the number sequence until you find HV 8073 .A85 2007
