What's the difference between the library (la biblioteca) and the bookstore (la librería)?

Answer

Baker Library at the CT State Norwalk Campus (La biblioteca)

  • Borrow and return library books for free! You never have to pay money unless you lose or damage a library book.
  • The library has thousands of books on every topic on our second floor: fiction, poetry, art, science, and more. You can borrow these books for free for four weeks at a time.
  • Looking for a book we don't have? Library staff can help you borrow books for free from other libraries.
  • Working online? The library has a huge collection of high-quality online resources for students to use. Log in with your student ID and password to get access to peer-reviewed journal articles, online encyclopedias, newspaper article databases, and more. You can't access these resources through Google.
  • Need help using our online resources or finding information on any topic? For research help, contact library staff by email or live chat from the library homepage.

Follett Campus Bookstore (La librería)

  • The bookstore is an independent business located on the Norwalk campus. It's a branch of a national campus bookstore chain.
  • You can find information about the textbooks for your classes by visiting the Norwalk Campus Bookstore online. You can also find this information by looking on your class syllabus or by contacting your professor.
  • Textbooks from the bookstore will either be available to rent ($$) or buy ($$$) class textbooks from the bookstore. You may be able to have them delivered to your home.
  • A few custom edition textbooks are only available through the Norwalk campus bookstore. Many other textbooks are available from other retailers. If you shop around, make sure you buy the correct edition of your textbook. If you have any questions about the textbook for your class, contact your professor.
  • If you rent a textbook for money from the Norwalk campus bookstore, you must return it to the bookstore (not the library) at the end of the semester, or you will be automatically charged for the full purchase price.
