What do the course codes HYBR, LRON, and OLCR mean?

Answer:

You might notice some unfamiliar course codes in MyCommNet!

Here are all of the course codes being used

  • CLIN = Clinical
  • COOP= Cooperative Learning
  • HYBR = Online and Classroom
  • INDE = Independent Study
  • INTN = Internship
  • LRON = Live/Remote & Online Component
  • OLCR = Online with Campus Requirement
  • ONLN = Fully Online
  • TRAD = Classroom

But three of those sound quite similar: HYBR, LRON, and OLCR.  Here are the differences:

ONLN – Fully Online – This course is offered fully online in an asynchronous manner using Blackboard for the delivery and organization of course materials. Students in an ONLN course need a reliable computer with internet connection.

LRON – Live/Remote & Online Component – This course includes a live virtual class (i.e., synchronized) meeting held at a designated day and time as well as asynchronous completion of learning activities and coursework using Blackboard.  Students in the live, remote class are required to meet with their instructor and classmates during the specified weekly time noted on the course schedule.  The virtual class meetings will be held for no less than 1/3 of the regularly scheduled class time. The remaining scheduled class time will take place in Blackboard. Students enrolling in LRON courses need a reliable computer with internet connection, microphone, and web camera.  Live instruction is conducted via a video conferencing platform; students should expect to turn their camera on and access their computer’s microphone during class meeting times.

HYBR – Online and Classroom - Hybrid courses meet for half of the scheduled class time on campus and the remainder of the course time is delivered in an asynchronous manner using Blackboard. Students in an HYBR course need a reliable computer with internet connection. All social distancing guidelines will be followed for any class time that is held on campus. Students registering for a HYBR course will need to be prepared to transition to a fully online format if the need arises at any point in time.
